Death Road – Extremely Dangerous Road

Adventurous people from all over the world are warned about this dangerous path.

Known as one of the most adventurous and thrilling activities
in Bolivia, biking down the historically dangerous "Death Road" is the ultimate extreme sport.

After 20 years of modernization, it's claimed to be safer these days.
North Yungas road is known as "Death Road" for all of the reasons you'd guess.

Driving up or down this 43-mile (69-kilometers) switchback is extremely perilous due to fog, landslides, cascades, and cliffs that drop 2,000 feet (610 meters) at every turn.

The road seldom gets any wider than 10 feet (3 meters), and many crosses stand as memorials to those who have perished there. Nearly 600 drivers were killed here everyyear until 2003.

It's no wonder it got the nickname.

Snake Island – The Deadliest Place On Earth

Warning all people who have a  fear of snakes,

This article may cause your skin to drag. This island in Brazil is no place to visit, even if you’re not afraid of snakes.

Less than 100 miles away from Sao Paulo, Brazil, is Snake Island, orIlha de Queimada Grande in Portuguese.

The island is full with snakes and is home to one of the deadliest snakes in the world, the golden lancehead viper. Home to an estimated 4,000 venomous lancehead vipers, this is considered one of the worlds' deadliest islands.

What’s With All The Snakes?

There’s definitely folklore surrounding how the snakes made it to the island,

like there is a story of pirates dropping snakes off there to protect their precious gold and diamonds,

but these are all local tales. The island actually turned into

the deadly snake-inhabited place it is today around 11,000 years ago according to Smithsonian.

This island has been untouched by human developers and the snake population has gone wild because of the extreme condition.

Due to the snakes not having any predators on the island, reproduction is easy and rapid.

It has been estimated that between one and five snakes can be found per square meter on the island.

Lake Natron – The Most Inhospitable Areas On Earth

Lake Natron is a mineral-rich soda lake in northern Tanzania, sharing the border with Kenya. It's a breeding place for hundreds of thousands of lesser flamingos, despite the highly alkaline state of the striking red waters.

It sits below Ol Doinyo Lengai, a soaring active volcano in the Rift Valley.

Trails lead from the lake to the Engero Sero waterfalls, which flow over craggy rocks into a natural pool.

Lake That Turns Animals to Stone? Not Quite

The alkaline water in Lake Natron has a pH as high as 10.5 and is so caustic itcan burn the skin and eyes of animals that aren't adapted to it.

The water's alkalinity comes from the sodium carbonate and other minerals that flow into the lake from the surrounding hills.

Despite some media reports, the animal didn't simply turn to stone and die after

coming into contact with the lake's water. In fact, Lake Natron's alkaline waters

support a thriving ecosystem of salt marshes, freshwater wetlands, flamingos and

other wetland birds, tilapia and the algae on which large flocks of flamingos feed.

Now, photographer Nick Brandt has captured haunting images of the lake and its

dead in a book titled

"Across the Ravaged Land" (Abrams Books, 2013).

Elephant Kingdom in Chonburi, Thailand

The Elephant Kingdom Park in Chonburi, Thailand was very famous for one particularly dangerous, but thrilling, attraction: feeding live crocodiles.
Tourists would go out on the crocodile-infested waters in a makeshift raft, and dangle bits of meat over the side to get a rise out the hungry creatures.
It is a deadly crocodile farm, where the owner rents out tiny, semi covered boats for visitors to get up, close and personal with crocodiles.
The dangerous crocodile encounters also include feeding the crocs from close quarters.
You are handed a fishing rod for feeding the deadly reptiles, while the actual raft you are housed on is set on several barrels with net enclosed around it.
People enter the enclosure and use meat pieces affixed on the rod to lure crocodiles.
The crocs are constantly leaping out of the water to grab the meat.
You’ve got to see crazy folks teasing the creatures by swinging the food above them and then snatching it back as the famished creatures reach out for it.
